Educaid.be Lunch seminar: Gender and Education in Rwanda

How FAWE Rwanda works towards the improvement of education for all girls

Friday 22 March 2019, Brussels

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a membership-based pan-African organisation that operates through 34 national chapters in sub-Saharan Africa to promote girls’ and women’s education. FAWE’s vision, mission and goal are all resolute on the well-being of girls’ education. Through its activities, the FAWE Rwanda chapter contributes to the country’s efforts to include more girls and young women in education.

Joséphine Kobusingye, education activist and programme officer at FAWE Rwanda, will introduce the work of FAWE and FAWE Rwanda. She will then highlight her own work within the education system, and the challenges, activities and achievements in the field of gender responsive pedagogy, Tuseme clubs and the promotion of STEM for girls.

Joséphine Kobusingye has worked for the empowerment of girls since 2007. She believes supporting them is crucial because many of them face difficult family situations.
