Cities as places of hope in the EU

20 november 2019 16:00 – 19:00

If one looks at the European Union from the dominant perspective, things not always look quite bright. Think of Brexit, the difficulty to get all member states on one line concerning climate or migration policy. But there is also another perspective of Europe, that sees how hopeful movements are unfolding and where progressive cities, together with their citizens, succeed to develop future-orientated answers. Cities are the social laboratories where new answers are designed, tested and implemented. Think of local food policies, cities full of bikes and public transport, renewable energy systems. Those initiatives are imbedded in cross-border networks, sharing knowledge and experience, aiming at a sustainable society that respects social and ecological boundaries.
