Two weeks ago I wrote to you to ask to support a new campaign on LabourStart. That campaign called on the South Korean government to implement the 'safe rates' for truck drivers that unions were demanding.
Over 5,300 of you quickly responded, and I'm very pleased to inform you that we have today suspended the campaign.
The union has won a huge victory.
As the union told us today in an email, they delivered our petitions by fax to the government last Friday. They emphasised that the mass struggle of the Korean workers on the ground was the main reason for the victory, but added that "the campaign was important in getting the word out about the fight and the global trend towards safe rates, which is incredibly important in the long term."
You helped contribute to that victory. Thank you!
Tomorrow, we'll be telling you about another LabourStart campaign which is being launched right now.
I hope I will be able to count on your support again.
