Soberana 02 is being tested on 44,000 volunteers in Cuba and thousands more in Iran and Venezuela. Two further vaccines — including one administered via a nasal spray — are at an earlier stage of testing.
If successful, Cuba intends to vaccinate its entire population before the end of the year and may also offer vaccines to tourists as well as producing vaccines for other interested nations.

Twenty members of parliament have signed Early Day Motion (EDM) 1550 on Cuba and the US blockade, which calls for the US government to normalise relations with Cuba by removing it from the ‘state sponsors of terrorism’ list, and ending its policy of blockade.

The EDM was put forward by Grahame Morris MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cuba. CSC will launch an action page to help members write to their MP’s, asking them to sign the EDM in the next few days.

Nobel campaign for Cuban doctors closes with 42 official nominations from Britain

More than 8,000 names and messages were submitted by CSC to the Nobel Prize Committee at the end of January calling for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to the Cuban doctors, nurses and technicians who make up the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade (HRIMB).

In advance of the Nobel Prize Committee’s deadline on 1 February 2021, the Cuba Solidarity Campaign ran a four month campaign in support of the HRIMB and worked with 28 members of the British and Scottish parliaments, and 14 academics to make official nominations to the Nobel Prize Committee.
