EAJS: De weg naar vrede komt door gerechtigheid - België moet actie ondernemen

De leden van Een Andere Joodse Stem zijn bezorgd en kwaad over de recente gebeurtenissen in Palestina-Israël. Wij betreuren het verlies van mensenlevens en het lijden, maar wij weten dat deze het resultaat zijn van het feit dat het recht van het Palestijnse volk op een leven in waardigheid, veiligheid en zelfbeschikking al decennia-lang wordt genegeerd.

De lange jaren van kolonisatie, onteigening en onderdrukking van Palestijnen in Jeruzalem, de Westelijke Jordaanoever en Gaza, en binnen Israël, hebben nu een kookpunt bereikt. Veel leden van onze groep hebben familie en vrienden in Israël, en hebben warme banden met Palestijnen in Gaza, in Jeruzalem, en in Europa. Ons hart bloedt deze dagen, terwijl we weten dat de enige weg naar vrede door gerechtigheid komt.

Daarom sluiten wij ons aan bij de oproep om vandaag te protesteren voor het Belgische Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken in Brussel, en op zaterdag voor het Centraal Station van Brussel, om te eisen dat België en Europa snel en concreet actie ondernemen en Israël sanctioneren voor zijn voortdurende schendingen van het internationaal recht.

EAJS: The way to peace passes through justice - Belgium has to take action

The members of Een Andere Joodse Stem/ Another Jewish Voice are concerned and angered by the recent events in Palestine-Israel. We mourn the loss of life and suffering, but we know these are the result of decades of ignoring the Palestinian people right to live in dignity, security and self-determination.

The long years of colonization, dispossession and oppression of Palestinians in Jerusalem, in the West Bank, in Gaza, and inside Israel, have now reached a boiling point. Many members of our group have family and friends in Israel, and have warm connections with Palestinians in Gaza, in Jerusalem, and in Europe; our hearts bleed these days, while we know the only way to peace passes through justice.

We therefore join the call to protest this afternoon in front of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels, and on Saturday in front of Brussels central station, demanding that Belgium and Europe will take rapid and concrete action and sanction Israel for its ongoing violations of international law.
